Leaving The Tri-Cities: Guide to KELOWNA (Part 1: Beaches and Parks)

Kelowna offers lots of fun options for younger and older kids. This is my guide to family-friendly activities in the area. Please note: As COVID-19 situation is ever changing please consult the BC CDC website before travelling, and keep informed about safety restrictions and precautions for travelling within the province.


Beaches

Boyce-Gyro Beach Park: Family friendly beach with play structure and zip line. Features include:

City Park Beach: A popular beach with a playground, splash park, quiet picnic areas, large trees, grassy and sandy areas and near may restaurants and cafes.

  • Location: 3400 Lakeshore Road

  • Playground

  • Busy on weekends & afternoons

  • Spray park

  • Washrooms

  • Lots of nearby ammentieis such as ice crea, coffee shops, lunch spots

  • Lawn bowling

  • Beach volleyball

  • Skate park

  • Parking lot (fills up very quickly) and paid parking around the city streets

  • Soccer fields & tennis courts

  • Aquapark/Wibit ($28 for adults, $18 evening pass)

Strathcona Park this quieter beach has designated swimming areas, sandy beaches, picnic tables, public washrooms, and a kid's playground all surrounded by tall oak trees.

  • Shaded grassy area

  • Quieter beach

  • Picnic tables

  • Walking distance to resturants

  • Small paid parking lot

Rotary Beach: Another quieter sandy beach with a playground.

Sarsons Beach

Bertram Creek Park

Beasley-Park (lake country)

  • Location: 5680 Lakeshore Rd, Kelowna

  • Washrooms

  • Picnic tables

  • Shaded grassy area

  • Beach volleyball courts

  • Note: Located on wood lake

  • Free parking lot

Coral Beach (lake country) Located amongst the Lake Country Scenic Sip Wine Route, this park offers a boat launch, tennis courts, picnic area, and washroom facilities.

Quilchena Park, Kettle Valley "Features an extensive playground with multiple slides including a tunnel slide down the hill and a splash park perfect for younger kids. With plenty of green space, landscaping, trails, and benches plus pickleball and tennis courts, it’s a great spot to spend the day." (City of Kelowna)

Park Features: Great play structure for little kids, and accessible for kids with all mobility levels.

  • Inclusive all abilities play structure (great for little kids)
