Queenston Park

Updated: Jun 1, 2019

Hands down, this is my favourite park right now.

No, it doesn’t have shade, toilets that flush, or ice cream.

But man oh man does it absolutely TUCKER MY KID OUT. And it is just so cool. The ropes, the ladders, the giant silver slide (the longest slide in the Tri-Cities, I think?).

The park, built into the side of a hill, gives kids (and moms) a chance to use their upper body strength in a way many other parks don’t.

Park Stats

  • Washrooms: Sometimes there is a portable toilet but no indoor washrooms

  • Change table: No

  • Age: Big structure and hill equipment for kids who can walk and climb (suggested age is 5-12, but a great tot structure for wobbly walkers too)

  • Shade: No. This is a bring sunscreen, wear a hat kind of park

  • Picnic tables: No

  • Water feature: No (no water fountain either so fill up your reusable bottles before you come)

  • Ground cover: Rubber

  • Parking: street parking

  • Transit: bus only (take the 191 or 188 from Lafarge Lake-Douglas skytrain station)

Here's what some other parents had to say:

“The playground is the best neighbourhood playground I’ve ever seen. If you’ve got kids with boundless energy get them running laps at Queenston Park Playground. Whoever thought of building a playground into the side of a hill was an utter genius!” - -Lindsay Follett

“This is a great unique playground. They have used the steep slope as a feature in the playground designing all the climbing elements around it. They also have no mulch so it is great for younger babies and toddlers with a small structure just for them. There are a couple of benches to sit and watch kids on the playground and a large grassy area above that could be used for a picnic.” -Jenny

“Great park, BUT no water, toilets, parking, or shade. Metal slide & rubber floor gets super hot when sunny. Only come week days during school or super busy." -Aram

“Really nice park but no water fountain. Lots of water bottles are littered around as a result “

-Shella
